Angela Santoni
Angela Santoni is Emeritus Professor of Immunology and Immunopathology at the Sapienza University of Rome, and Scientific Director of the Pasteur Institute-Italia.

She served as Head of the Department of Molecular Medicine, President of Master Course in Medical Biotechnologies and Coordinator of the PhD program in Immunology and Immunopathology. She was President of the International Society of Natural Immunity (SNI), of the Italian Society of Immunology, Clinical Immunology and Allergology (SIICA), member of the Council of International Union Immunological Societies, and Italian representative of GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccination and Immunization) Board, Italian delegate for Horizon 2020 SC1 Health, Demographic change and Wellbeing EU program.
She is member of the Academia Europaea and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), of the Assembleè des Cent de l’Institut Pasteur Paris, of the National Committee CNR-Ethics; President of the Sapienza Committee for Research Integrity, and Honorary Fellow of Sapienza Advanced School. In 2019 she was awarded with “Onorificenza al Merito della Repubblica Italiana” di Commendatore by the President of the Italian Republic.
Her research provided relevant contributions on several aspects of NK cell biology and in particular
on the signaling events underlying NK cell migration and effector functions; on the molecular mechanisms governing NK activating stress ligand expression; on NK cell immunosurveillance against senescent tumor cells as documented of the over 400 publications on peer-reviewed scientific journals.
