Guido Ferlazzo 

Guido Ferlazzo is a Full Professor of Immunology and General Pathology at the University of Genoa, Italy, where he is also the Director of the Department of Experimental Medicine. He also leads the Unit of Experimental Pathology and Immunology at the Hospital IRCCS Policlinico San Martino, Genoa.

Bio and Carreer

He earned his M.D. magna cum laude in 1987 and completed his specialization in General Oncology in 1991 at the University of Messina. He carried out early research in tumor immunology and clinical immunology at the National Cancer Research Institute (IST) and the University of Genoa. He was awarded fellowships from the Bonino-Pulejo Foundation, AIRC, and FIRC, which supported his work on growth factors, adoptive immunotherapy, and gene transfer techniques.

His international experience includes research appointments at the Karmanos Cancer Institute (Wayne State University) and at The Rockefeller University in New York, where he worked in the laboratory of Nobel Laureate Ralph Steinman and later served as Adjunct Faculty.

Prof. Ferlazzo has held leadership roles in translational medicine, including Director of the Cell Therapy Program and President of the Cell Factory Research Center at the University of Messina. His current research and clinical interests focus on diagnostic immunopathology and the integration of immunological principles into therapeutic innovation.
