Marco Scioscia
Marco Scioscia works as a senior consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mater
Dei Hospital of Bari, Italy, as Director of the Gynaecological Surgery Unit. He received his M.D.
degree from the University of Bari Aldo Moro and his Ph.D. degree in foetal medicine from the
University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy. He worked for two years at the University College of
London, London, UK with Professor Charles H. Rodeck and Professor Thomas W. Rademacher
completing clinical and research training respectively in obstetrical ultrasonography and
biochemistry of placental metabolism in diabetes and preeclampsia. He worked as a consultant for
ten years at the Sacro Cuore Hospital in Negrar, Verona, Italy and three years at Policlinico of
Abano Terme, Padua, Italy as senior consultant. Dr Scioscia received five distinguished scientific
awards from various international and national institutions, including the European KU Leuven
Andrè Van Assche Award in 2006. He is co‐Editor of two international journals, member of the
Editorial Board of two international journal and is authors of more than 270 scientific articles. His
has several research interests that include preeclampsia, endometriosis, and minimally invasive
gynaecological surgery.
