Simona Zompì

Simona Zompì, MD, PhD is a senior R&D leader in immunology with over 15 years of experience advancing immunotherapeutics from discovery through IND. She has led cross-functional global teams driving innovation across cell and gene therapies, biologics, and vaccines in oncology, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, and infectious diseases. Most recently, she served as Senior Director and Head of Preclinical Research at CARGO Therapeutics, leading CAR T-cell programs through IND, and previously held leadership roles at Altos Labs and Sangamo Therapeutics, where she integrated AI-driven multi-omics discovery to advance cellular rejuvenation therapeutics and led the development of first-in-class iPSC-Treg cell therapy programs aimed at restoring immune tolerance.
